Since I started my film & video business back in 1988, things have changed considerably. Many corporate programs were shot and edited on film back then. Video shooting was done with a “plain Jane” analogue Betacam. Low Band Umatic video editing required copious notes, and perhaps a day or so of writing down all the timecode numbers to allow for (linear), online edits. Mastering was done using a one-inch reel of reel video. This was sensitive to magnetic fields and could not be carried on a London tube train. Distribution was either on Betamax (remember that?) or Low Band U-Matic. ), VHS.
The much-heralded digital age is here, almost twenty years after its inception. It is possible to shoot on DV with Avid, edit on Avid, then burn the DVD directly without any quality loss. The delivery of the program is the only part of the entire process that has changed. It doesn’t matter if you send it via Fed-Ex or postal mail. Someone must take your program, transport it there, and then play it with specialized equipment. It is possible that your program will need to cross into other countries. This means you will need special copies to comply with the local TV standards. Also, the customer may have to pay an additional customs fee.
Internet can be used to solve this problem. Broadband/ ADSL Internet connectivity is fast becoming the norm. Broadband Internet access is available to approximately 80% of the UK. The Guardian reports that the number for other countries may be higher. These are just some of the ways you can use this technology:
Let’s say that you are a small- or medium-sized company and have created a video promotional to show potential clients. This video can be easily streamed right from your website. You can password protect the video and restrict access to invite-only users if you don’t wish your competitors to view it. You can also stream your commercial online for all to see, not only those who live in your area. It is possible to tie it to print advertising so people want to visit the site and see your advertisement. This will be a better option than having them get up to go to their bathroom during your commercial 안전놀이터. Or fast forwarding the video if they’ve filmed the program it is being shown in. Yahoo! offers so much of this video content online. Yahoo! has dedicated a lot of space in their search engine for it. For more information, go to Yahoo! by clicking on the “video” tab and typing “commercial” in the search field.
Video streaming is great for companies with many employees or large offices. It is also a great tool for corporate communication. You can share the same video with employees from different countries, cities, time zones or locations. Except for having your video converted into the proper format (more on this later) and having your webmaster upload the video to your websitespace, the actual costs of your video are almost nothing. There is absolutely nothing that the tax man can get his teeth into. Standard conversion becomes obsolete as your video can cross borders without having to pay customs charges.
Making it easy to get your training message across is also much easier. Employees can see the video via their computers. You can also add “interactivity” to make the training session customized for each employee. You can train employees via your intranet if you are part of a company network.
You can train multiple people with live streaming even if you are located in different places. This is especially important for medical training. It is possible for a surgeon to demonstrate a specific technique in a safe environment. For future viewing, you can record the whole process on video.
